On Saturday, October 24, Richstone Family Center filled up with princesses, superheroes, pumpkins, and plenty of little monsters for our annual Halloween Party. We welcomed 239 children and family members for an afternoon of crafts, games, treats, and time together.

Our Halloween Party is a chance for families to set stress aside and just enjoy the sunny day. Kids showed off their costumes, and parents relaxed and connected with one another. The space was full of laughter from the first check-in to the last goodie bag.

Every station was hosted by community partners who brought their creativity and big hearts. Our own Parents as Teachers team led a crowd favorite where kids made DIY squishies and sponge stamp paintings. Help Group kept everyone fueled at the snack station and sent families home with goodie bags. National Charity League Manhattan Beach/Hermosa Beach had kids decorating pumpkins and filling candy-stuffed “witch hands,” and National Charity League Palos Verdes kept a steady line at their candy, face painting, and temporary tattoo station. Amigos Unidos poured drinks for thirsty trick-or-treaters, and Good Hearts Club made sure no one left without something sweet from the candy station. Thank you also to National Charity League Pier for joining us again with arts & crafts this year

We’re also grateful to the individual volunteers who welcomed families at check-in, served food, ran our donation station, and pitched in wherever they were needed. This year we served deli sandwiches, water, and juice so families could enjoy a heartier, healthier bite between activities.

While the kids enjoyed the festivities, parents had a treat of their own. EVEREVE sponsored a shopping spree just for our moms, giving them the chance to browse and pick out new items for themselves at no cost. Caregivers so often put their own needs last, so it was a joy to see parents get a moment to treat themselves. Thank you to EVEREVE for this generous and thoughtful gift to our families.

Events like this happen because our community shows up for our families. Thank you to every volunteer, group, and donor who helped make this year’s Halloween Party so special
